Mumbai Railway Stations are set for a major upgrade with the construction of elevated decks at 17 key stations. This ambitious project aims to ease congestion and improve passenger movement across the city’s busy suburban railway network. Managed by the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP-3A), the upgrades are expected to be completed between 2025 and 2027.
17 Mumbai Railway Stations Will Be Developed Soon
The new elevated decks will be built above existing platforms, creating additional space for passengers and amenities. Many Mumbai Railway Stations, some over 70-80 years old, have limited horizontal expansion possibilities. Vertical expansion through these decks offers a smart solution to overcrowding.
These decks will connect directly to foot overbridges (FOBs), ensuring smoother movement across platforms. Existing shops and stalls will be relocated to these elevated areas, creating a more organized flow of passengers on the platforms. This transformation aims to make commuting safer and more convenient.
