The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has extended the deadline for UAN activation and Aadhaar linking to February 15, 2025. This extension applies to the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme, allowing more time for employees to complete the process.
Deadline for UAN Activation and Aadhaar Linking
The Ministry of Labour and Employment announced the extension in a circular dated February 2, 2025. The deadline for UAN activation and Aadhaar linking was originally set for November 30, 2024, but was later extended multiple times.
A Universal Account Number (UAN) is a 12-digit unique identifier that helps employees manage their provident fund accounts. Activating the UAN allows access to EPFO’s online services, including withdrawals, balance checks, and contact updates.
Linking Aadhaar is essential for receiving EPF contributions and accessing benefits under the ELI scheme. It ensures seamless direct benefit transfers and faster processing of EPF withdrawals.
Employees can activate their UAN through the EPFO Member Sewa portal using their Aadhaar details. The process can be completed with an Aadhaar-based OTP, making it simple and convenient.
Missing the deadline for UAN activation and Aadhaar linking could result in delayed salary credits and restricted access to EPFO services. Employees may also lose financial benefits under the ELI scheme.
Employers must ensure that their employees complete UAN activation and Aadhaar linking before February 15, 2025. Failure to do so may lead to complications in PF contributions and withdrawal processes.
The ELI scheme, introduced in 2024, aims to encourage formal employment and direct financial benefits to workers. Aadhaar linking ensures these benefits reach employees’ bank accounts without delays.
With the deadline for UAN activation and Aadhaar linking approaching, employees should complete the process as soon as possible. This will help them avoid issues with EPFO services and salary payments.
